In the last couple of years, Koenigsegg has been working hard to create an engine that won’t need a camshaft. Now, Christian von Koenigsegg, who founded the FreeValve subsidiary, has released a video that describes the advanced camless engine in detail.
A camless engine is an engine that uses hydraulic, electromagnetic of pneumatic actuators to open the poppet valves instead of camshafts.
Thus, such engine makes 30% more torque and power than a regular engine. In addition, this engine is also 30% more fuel efficient and not as “toxic” as the others. Check it out!
