What is the auto-stop-start system? Well, the name should tell you everything. Basically, it’s a system that automatically shuts down and restarts the internal combustion engine. By doing this, it reduces the the amount of time that the engine would normally spent while idling, which means in reduces emissions and fuel consumption as well.
The auto-start-stop tech is definitely not new and what’s even more certain, it is here to stay. More than 60% of the cars in EU features this system. But, it all started when Toyota offered it in one of its sedans in the mid 70s. Given the effect that this system has, it’s not wrong to say that we are really an auto-stop-start community.
