Centrifugal Compressor – What is it and how does it work?
Centrifugal compressor, also known as a termed radial compressor, is a sub-class of dynamic axisymmetric work-absorbing turbo-machinery. These compressors were essential parts of the very first jet engines and they are still used on turbo shaft engines and small turbojets.
Typically, a centrifugal compressor consists of one or more stages. Every stage, on the other hand, has an impeller and diffuser. The diffuser converts kinetic energy into pressure and the impeller imparts kinetic energy go gas fluid (a certain part of that energy!)
