Ekranoplans, for those who don’t know, resemble a cross between hydrofoils and seaplanes. Essentially they are aircraft but the exploit a phenomenon that’s called the wing-in-ground effect. This means that when flying close to a surface a winged body extra lift is given.
the KM Ekranoplan WIG, flew for the first time on October 18, 1966.It was larger than any other flying craft at that time and it was nicknamed as the Caspian Sea Monster. To this day, it is the largest WIG ever built.
