Napier Deltic Diesel Engine and it’s working principles explained!
Napier Deltic Diesel Engine is a supercharged uni-flow scavenged, opposed-piston valveless engine that can be found it locomotive and marine applications. This two-stroke engine was designed and produced by Napier & Son and it’s a very peculiar masterpiece.
The cylinders in the engine are divided into 3 blocks in a triangular arrangement. In this way, the blocks form sides with crankshafts that are located in each apex of the previously mentioned triangle.
The term Deltic refers to the Deltic E.130 opposed-piston diesel engine and its demonstrator locomotive which name is also Deltic.
