Spiral water pump
The spiral water pump was first invented in 1746 by Wirtz. Naturally, it was largely forgotten due to the appearance of steam power and later electrical power. Nevertheless, it has seen a resurgence of interest among people that want to use simple technology in the developing countries.
This a water pump that doesn’t need electricity nor solar power but only moving water. Yet, it is capable of pumping water to a height that’s far greater that the source of the water. It is also known as a river pump, Wirtz pump or coil pump and it is an amazing piece of technology. Today, unlike in the 18th and 19th century it is easily and cheaply build, with readily available tubing.
