Titanium car is finally a reality thanks to the design house and coach-builder Icona, based in Shanghai.
The titanium car is known as the Vulcano Titanium supercar and Icona is selling it for 2.5 million euros ( $2.78 million approximately). Now you’re thinking’ that’s the pricing territory reserved for Paganis, Koenigseggs or Bugattis. However, the Volcano supercar is one of a kind and has no relatives whatsoever. As a matter of fact this car’s build is “unrepeatable”. The car-creator confirmed that information adding that the process required over 10,000 hours of hand-crafted work.
This Volcano titanium car at first was only a concept to showcase the Icona’s design talents. It made its appearance at the 2013 Shanghai auto show with a body made from aluminum and composite materials. The first titanium-bodied version was presented in 2015 at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The engine was borrowed from the C6 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1– a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. Icona`s team positioned the engine behind the front axle, in front of the cabin so they have created a front-midship positioning that improves the dynamics and handling. The output is 670 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque and it “travels” via a paddle-shifted transmission and goes straight to the rear wheels. This car goes from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds. It`s top speed is 220 mph.
This supercar boasts a 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 220 mph and that’s pretty satisfying. The Volcano car is going to be one of a kind until the rest of its life.
Icona`s car will be on display at the 2016 Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance. So, if you like to take a closer look at the Vulcano Titanium supercar make sure you can get in the United Kingdom from September 1-3.
