Those with vertigo, look away until it’s too late. The Millau Viaduct is a bridge that spans the valley of the River tarn in southern France. It’s the world’s tallest bridge with 343.0 meters above the base of the structure. The bridge is so high that is glides above the clouds! Before even starting to build this engineering masterpiece, many though it was impossible to build a functional bridge that with a deck that high.
It’s in the 21st highest bridge deck in the world with 270 meters between the ground below and the road deck. But, apart from the numbers, it is consistently ranked as one of the most amazing and greatest engineering achievements of all time. It definitely was a challenging task to achieve and this is how they did it.
